SAFETY
ARMAX™
SINCE 2021
You’ve probably heard of the expression “a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.” The same thing can be said of seams in a suit, as they’re the weakest part of the construction.
That’s why we searched for and found a way to increase safety by concealing the seams in one of the most important zones: the shoulder.
A tough, solid baseplate is placed underneath the leather of the outer shell, out of which cut-outs are made. These small areas allow the abrasion-resistant cover to be fixed to the baseplate and strengthened by an adhesive solution.
Armax™ can also be found on gloves as we’ve managed to translate this innovative (and patented) construction to the knuckles, palm and even fingers.
R.I.S.C.™ INTERIOR
SINCE 2019
Some time ago we developed new R.I.S.C.™ protectors with a hollowed-out, hexagonal structure that absorbs and distributes impact forces, keeps the protector breathable and looks incredibly good. (So good even, we’ve developed an exterior variant based on positive feedback!)
Our R.I.S.C.™ protectors are flexible, ergonomically shaped and present in all our gear of the past few years. Your knees (and optionally your hips) are well protected in our pants as goes for your shoulders and elbows when wearing a MACNA® jacket.
A R.I.S.C.™ back protector (level 2) is separately available as is the only two-piece chest protector (level 1) on the market that locks itself automatically when zipping up. All other protectors are available in both level 1 and 2 and all R.I.S.C.™ protectors are odorised.
EXO R.I.S.C.™
SINCE 2022
Some time ago we developed new R.I.S.C.™ protectors with a hollowed-out, hexagonal structure that absorbs and distributes impact forces, keeps the protector breathable and looks incredibly good.
Based on positive feedback about its looks and the ergonomic design, we’ve developed our interior protectors into an exterior variant.
EXO R.I.S.C.™ lets you enjoy on the outside what was already present on the inside. Basically, we created an extrovert twin brother of our protector, one that likes to flaunt its looks.
Like true twins, though, they share more than they differ; flexibility, breathability, safety and comfort.
TPR PROTECTION
SINCE 2007
R.I.S.C.™ TPR protection is thermoplastic rubber incorporated in the outer shell. Protection made of TPR can vary in hardness but has a (semi) soft feel to it in most cases.
TPR is a combination of rubber and plastic and has the advantages of both materials. This makes TPR impact-absorbent and abrasion-resistant.
Other advantages are its thermal properties and the fact that it can be moulded and coloured very easily, enabling more stylish protectors compared to traditional ones.
TPU Protection
SINCE 2009
R.I.S.C.™ TPU protection is thermoplastic polyurethane incorporated in the outer shell. Protection made of TPU can vary in hardness but has a (semi) hard feel to it in most cases.
TPU is characterised by many properties, including elasticity, transparency and resistance to oil, grease and abrasion.
Other advantages are its injectability similar to TPR and its low-temperature flexibility. It is mostly seen in black as it is less easily to colour than TPR.
EVA PROTECTION
SINCE 2008
R.I.S.C.™ EVA protection consists of rubber foam underneath the outer shell. Protection with EVA padding is flexible and resilient as it recovers quickly from compression.
EVA foam excels in absorbing vibrations and impact forces. It is also characterised by its good thermal insulation as well as low water-absorption.
Other advantages are its softness, non-toxicity, stress-crack resistance and resistance to ultraviolet radiation which makes EVA suitable for many purposes.
CONSTRUCTIONS
Your level of safety is largely determined by the construction and materials that are used in your gear. By analysing the gear of our MotoGP and WSBK riders after they’ve hit the tarmac, we aim to continuously improve both factors.
When it comes to constructions, impact areas and delicate body parts are always given extra attention. Take hand palms and little fingers for example.
When you fall, you’re likely to catch yourself by extending your hands in front of you; palms first towards the tarmac. Land on your little finger and you’re even further from home.
That’s where thicker leather, double layers, and specs such as the Finger Bridge come in. Similar solutions are fitted in other areas of different garments to take your safety to the next level.
MATERIALS
Your level of safety is largely determined by the construction and materials that are used in your gear. By analysing the gear of our MotoGP and WSBK riders after they’ve hit the tarmac, we aim to continuously improve both factors.
Impact areas can be reinforced with Aramid or a garment can be fully woven with Cordura. You might find Superfabric® at the shoulder or Heat Shield at the ankle.
The possible combinations are endless, as is our search for impact-absorbent, abrasion-resistant and innovative materials to take your safety to the next level.
